not sure what i can do, my mum bought it for me in canada just over 2 weeks ago, i doubt they will agree to refund me unless i go to the same store, which i can't. anyway i love my camera, and this one doesn't really have a huge amount over it, i hope.

f*ck it mate, you have a hd go pro... i wouldnt be complaining, if you want the new one so much at least wait a while, get your use out of yours and get one of these once the price goes down a bit.

well gopro has a unsatisfactory return policy before 30 after purchase, i to live in canada and just go to the store and ask for a full refund just put it back in the original package and use that 300 for the hd hero 2 Wink good luck man!

flag chuckmanbob (Oct 29, 2011 at 10:10)
the problem is i don't live in canada so can't just return it to the shop. It is frustrating, but i still have a great camera so not the end of the world, just wish i had know they were bringing out a new one a few weeks ago.

Ohh, well that puts a damper on it. It's still sick but i thought it was at least at 720p.

flag mobilechernobyl (Oct 24, 2011 at 21:42)
120FPS is adequate for some basic high speed footage if the riders not haulin' like a raped ape.

For anything higher and still affordable look up the casio FH-100 or the newer (but still the same) ZR-100 - decent high speed footage under $300!
  • + 4
flag kyphoto (Oct 25, 2011 at 18:03)
Yes 120 works fairly well for good slo-mo but I think many of us would like it to be at 720 at least, if not 1080 instead of SD 480. 480 is fine for web edits which is what a lot of people will use it for and I can understand GoPro going with a processor that can only handle that (keeping costs reasonable). But it still would've been freakin' cool to get full HD 1080 at 120fps.
As for the Casio ZR-100 it only does 1080 at standard 30fps. Faster than that and it drops to 320 and goes as low as 224x64 to get the advertised 1000fps. So for any semi-serious work the GoPro2 definitely has it beat.

SO pumped for this thing. I am impressed that they released this for the same price despite a way higher photo resolution, image option, etc. When I buy a new camera I WAS looking at Contour just because it fit my helmet better than my GoPro, but now they are definitely off my radar. Microphone in!?!? sick

flag shrockie (Oct 24, 2011 at 13:03)
Helmet mount is cool and all, but the view from the Chestie is way better.. shows what's happening with the bike and the trail so much better.. can't do that with a contour.. Well, not without a complicated work-around and a whole lot of shaking while in use.

GoPro FTW!!

Hola - thanks for comments, we'll keep you posted over the next couple months on the Wi-Fi BacPac, the Remote and the smart applications…. all fun stuff to come. And yes - this can be a solution for wireless streaming for DH - WHOA!!!

flag shrockie (Oct 24, 2011 at 16:48)
would be handy if the WiFi backpack could use a cable, so it could be stashed someplace... thus keeping the weight of the camera down.. even if it's stashed on the other side of the helmet, so it's more balanced.. just an idea.. Love my HD!!

First off it sounds like a decent price which I like, I'm glad they didn't rape us on the "new" version just because its new. Second, it has wifi capabilities??? Soo if I have a mobile hotspot can I connect directly to the internet while riding and stream my ride live??? If so that would be pretty sick.

It'll be interesting to see how the Wifi Bacpac works (and how much it costs). Looks like it is slated to be released "winter 2012".

flag melonhead1145 (Oct 24, 2011 at 14:18)
or if you have an Android phone, you can use this as a mobile router. So you could connect the GoPro to the phone via WiFi, then connect the phone to the internet via mobile internet. i don't know what other phones do this, just speaking from experience having used my android as a mobile router for my laptop sometimes.

flag Caiokv (Oct 24, 2011 at 15:05)
Yeah, but for video streaming the 3G wont be useful, mainly with a 1080p res...
BUT if you got a good 4G coverage, and an extra battery pack (Androids battery sucks lol ), it can be quite useful!

flag spaced (Oct 26, 2011 at 7:29)
My htc battery is quite good. Turn off all the function on only leave 4g (or 3g at lower quality) and you are fine.

Good things come to those who wait! After my fail using a 5mp GoPro for scuba diving (Nemo was an orange blob) and for hydro-boarding (Water on lens made the video a little blurred!) I was all set for buying a GoPro HD based on how my mates worked in those conditions, that was two months ago, I never got round to it.......might be time now though!

I wonder if gopro will ever make one that isn't terribly ugly and have a "low profile" model.
  • + 1
flag collin7 (Oct 24, 2011 at 23:04)
They already are pretty low profile... i mean, its a freakin HD camera! Contour's is much bulkier IMO... mostly because you can't use a chest mount very well. Of course they could always go thinner... but its still pretty damn impressive!
